Enriching our farmers and Rural people

In our first step we met common people especially farmers who are the backbone of our country. ‘Go organic’ is a much popular saying everywhere but to what extent is it being practiced is a difficult thing to answer. Because of fast growing business and demands, farmers are using fertilizers abundantly due to various constraints resulting in numerous problems. The world with its ever burgeoning population needs adequate food supply and that too by Eco-friendly techniques of production, since rapid and mindless industrialization all over the globe, has played havoc with our precious and fragile ecosystem.

In order to tackle this we started educating people mainly through various awareness programs and projects like “SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT - A NEW PARADIGM FOR AGRICULTURE AND  RURAL ECONOMY”

1. Natural Farming – CGNF technology
2. Soil Management
3. Water Management
4. Animal Husbandry- Dairy promotion, by products marketing, Organic poultry.
5. Sustainable Agro vet practices with socio-economic inclusive growth.
6. Seminars, workshops, Seed mela at Tirupathi Organic seed collection.

Water Management

Water management awareness program was conducted by Dr. Chandraiah former ADA, currently technical officer, DWDO, Chitradurga

Agricultural systems that depend mainly on groundwater irrigation will come under increasing stress through the projected climate change impacts. Groundwater recharge potentials will be reduced due to unseasonal rainfall.

Farmers in semi-arid areas in India have already expressed concerns about observed changes in precipitation patterns and shifts in crop cycles. To address the water related challenges the communities are facing, due to climate variability and change. Increased precipitation variability, more concentrated rainfalls over shorter periods of time, excessive run-off, and a higher frequency of dry spells during the rainy season will all reduce groundwater recharge and the availability of surface water, resulting in severe additional risks for the agriculture-based livelihood systems of the communities. The pilot program took a three-fold approach to make the communities' agricultural systems more resilient to emerging climate risks: It included measures

To increase the amount of surface and ground water available for livelihood activities.

To improve water management in order to increase the water use efficiency; and to reduce water demand in the production system.

Soil Management &Natural farming

Farming communities had been practicing sustainable agriculture practices which were got from their ancestors but as the time pass and his greediness to get more in short period through high yield variety who would consume more chemical fertilizers pesticides have had bad impacts on the food chain and sustainable food security. But trend has now been slow changing and government mind set also been changing and showing more interest towards sustainable agriculture. Even after 2004-2005 Government of Karnataka has made Sustainable Agriculture policies and through which trying to motivate the moss farming community from Chemical based cultivation to organic base farming.

Natural farming is gaining momentum all over the world as it offers a means to address food self-reliance, rural development and nature conservation. The common thread in this approach is the sustainable use of bio-diversity, in terms of contributions to the agriculture. People’s consciousness towards; healthy food, ecology and pollution free environment through conventional farming and organic farming. At present about 37.5 Million hectares of land area is under organic farming in the world and expected market of organic food is to touch US$ 24.77 billion by 2015.

Hence Samanvaya is Mainly focusing on natural farming by introducing simple, practical, innovative and replicable technologies and strategies like Dr. Cho’s Global Natural Farming Technology for farming and livestock.

And also helping the farming community to enhance the capacity in promoting food security through agriculture for small and marginal farmers by providing proper training and education to our farmers and strengthening market information system. Samanvaya is trying to educate our farmers through creating interest about natural farming by conducting several training programs & workshops in various places of Davanagere & Bellary district.(Hanumanthapura, Jagalur, Kalledevapura, ChikkaJogiHalli, KhanaHoshalli) by our resource person organic farming scientist Prof. KunuthurSrinivasa Reddy.
